IRI has two major facility locations: The Engine Remanufacturing Building (ERB), which is a 20,000 sq-ft facility and the Military Engine Technical Center (METC), which consists of 5 buildings totaling 100,000 sq-ft. METC is the former Cummins Technical Center for the B and C engine, from first development until year 2000. IRI has been a supplier to Cummins Inc. since 1991 in the areas of research and development, engine repair and engine rebuild, and a supplier of remanufactured engine services since 2001. IRI has been the prime contractor in overhauling V903 marine engines, a contract awarded by the United States Coast Guard in 2005. In 2008, IRI began reclaiming approximately 300 Cummins B 6.7L engine components for Cummins MidRange.
